A Night to Remember

Well, what a fun night! We had a "Missionary Experience" at the stake center, where we were taught a few things about serving a mission by our stake missionaries. It was pretty cool, and I learned a lot. Then our stake YW president called everyone into the chapel and told us she had brought a special guest speaker, her nephew, Jan Jorgensen. Jan is the defensive lineman for the BYU Cougars, and most of you know I belong to a family that is huge fans of the Utah Utes. Jan told us that he used to not like BYU and loved the Utes, and he asked that we listen to his story because it was pretty amazing and unique.

Jan served an honorable mission in Boise, Idaho. He told us about how he was embarassed to tell people where he was going on his mission, since it was so close to home. He then decided he was going to be a good missionary and the only thing that mattered was the gospel and the people he met.

While on his mission, Jan was offered a scholarship to play football for the University of Utah, but it slowly turned into something that would never work out. So when Jan submitted his papers into BYU, he got a scholarship there to play football. It was a great night and definately something I'll always remember!!
