Mini-Vacation

Seminary is awesome. It is my favorite class. The teachers are just so neat and have awesome testimonies, and my friends are with me too, which is nice. It's like a mini-vacation from school for an hour away from all of the fighting, swearing, and yelling that goes on.

Recently Ogden High started summer seminary, where you can go every Tuesday from 10 to 12 at the seminary building. The first hour is instructional time, and then the second hour is a game and treats that the seminary council put together. I'm so glad that I have attended this with my friends McCall and Jaclyn.

This is how the first week went...

Bro. Woodbury nicely greeted us at the door. We went into one of the rooms, and waited until it was exactly 10 o'clock. By then, there were about 40 seminary kids in the room. We started out with a loud 'Battle Hymn of the Republic' and a prayer. Then, we started on the lesson.
Bro. Woodbury talked about how we can stay closer to Christ through our daily actions. If we surround ourselves with christ-like things (friends, scriptures, etc.) then it is easier to have the spirit. But if we surround ourselves with bad things (swearing, drugs, etc.) then it is harder to stay on the straight and narrow path.
Bro. Woodbury got in a scary near death car accident within the last couple of years. He made an amazing recovery and it is great to hear his testimony. If anyone goes out on the highway, there is a McKay Dee Hospital moving billboard, and he is on it. All of the seminary teachers have such a strong belief in the gospel that you can't feel anything but peace when you are with them. Actually, you can't feel anything but peace and love when you are in that seminary building surrounded by the people you know will bring you closer to Christ and Heavenly Father.
Then, we had the game and treat time. The game was 'Seminary Jeopardy' and it was really fun. We separated ourselves into seven teams of six and began the game. Our team were the 'Cupcakes'. The questions ranged from things like "Who is the current prophet?", to things like "Who were the two Mormon competitors on American Idol?". Unfortunately, our team lost and came up in 4th place. But that was ok!
Then came the treat. It was a choice between chocolate cream pie pudding or banana cream pie pudding. They were both really good.
After that, it was time to go home. We said goodbye and walked about halfway home and then my mom came and got us.
What an awesome opporotunity I have to attend summer seminary! I truly think this is helping to strengthen my testimony and the testimonies of my friends.
